TUMIPA si Glenn Ollero ng career-best 64 para tanghaling overall champion sa ’69 Hits Gold Golf Tournament kamakailan sa Manila Golf and Country Club sa Makati City.
OLLERO: Nagtala ng career-best 64.
Naungusan ni Ollero, 60, sina Gie Ejercito, Benny Fulgencio at Manny Gomez sa torneo na inorganisa ng Upsilon Sigma Phi batch 69 bilang bahagi sa pagdiriwang ng kanilang ika-50 taong anibersaryo.
Tinampukan ang programa ng masayang salo-salo, tampol ang 500 panauhin sa Okada Hotel Manila.
“Actually, this is my first ever championship. I really prepared for this tournament and played my best,” pahayag ni Ollero.
“This is my best performance in my career.”
Umiskor si Ejercito ng 68 para makopo ang Founders’ Cup trophy, habang umiskor ng parehong 69 sina Fulgencio at Gomez para magsosyo sa ikatlong puwesto sa torneo na ginamitan ng modified double-barrel scoring system.
Naitala ni Eugene Espantero ang 66 para sa President’s trophy, laban kina Deo Ignacio at Dennis Gelacio na umsikor ng 67 at 69.
Ikinalugod ni Upsilon Sigma Phi Alumni Association president Martin Romualdez ang tagumpay ng torneo na inorganisa nina Willie Fernandez at Erdie Malveda. Nakakuha rin ng sapat na pondo ang grupo para suportahan ang taunang “Pumapalo Para sa Bayan” golf tournament sa Disyembre 2 sa Valley Golf and Country Club sa Antipolo City.
“We have a regular Upsilonian event, the ‘Pumapalo Para sa Bayan,’ that aims to foster fellowship and camaraderie,” pahayag ni Romualdez, kinatawan ng Leyte sa Kongreso at kasalukuyang Majority floor leader.
“In this occasion, our brothers think that they are having fun playing golf, but they are actually making contributions for a better cause. This has always been part of the belief and ideals we have inculcated – we gather light to scatter. Whatever we have, we share, ” ayon sa pangulo rin ng Manila Golf Club.
