Nilinaw ni Senador Panfilo “Ping” Lacson kay dating senador Antonio Trillanes IV ang dahilan kung bakit nasabi niya noong 2019 na “top bet” niya si Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte bilang susunod na presidente ng bansa.

Ito’y matapos sumagot si Trillanes sa tweet ni Lacson noong Huwebes kung saan binanggit ng ng senador ang malubang sitwasyon na kinakaharap ng Pilipinas at hindi malulutuas na parehong lumang istilo ng politika at pamumuno.

“The dire situation our country is facing cannot be solved by the same old style of politics and leadership that we’ve had over the past 25 years or so,” sabi ni Lacson sa kanyang Twitter post noong Huwebes.

“It is something for the next batch of young leaders to prepare for, not just for the next 6 years but for at least one decade,” dagdag pa ito.

Sinagot naman ni Trillanes ang tweet ni Lacson at sinabing: “I agree, Sir. Pero you are endorsing Sara for president because…” na nilakipan pa nito ang screenshot ng isang article na lumabas taong 2019 kung saan mababasa ang headline na “Sara still my top bet as next president – Lacson”.

Sagot at paliwanag naman ni Lacson: “Because in February 2019, she was the only probable candidate. The political landscape may have changed with the election in May 2019 of other young and highly capable mayors in Metro Manila, Baguio City and even in Congress,” sambit ni Lacson.

Muling sumagit si Trillanes ng: “Copy, Sir. Buti naman di na si Sara ang ini-endorse n’yo”, na hindi na sinagot ni Lacson.

Nauna nang sinabi ni Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte na hinihikayat ng iba’t ibang grupo ang kanyang anak na tumakbo sa pagka-pangulo sa 2022 national election.

Subalit hindi umano tatakbo ang kanyang anak sa pagka-presidente sa susunod na halalan.
