Seseryosohin lang ng China ang pagtuligsa sa pananatili nito sa West Philippine Sea kung mismong si Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte na ang babatikos.

Hangga’t hindi nagsasalita si Duterte ay maniniwala ang China na kaalyado nila ang pangulo, ayon pa kay retired Supreme Court Senior Associate Justice Antonio Carpio.

“The President must speak. He must stand up himself because if his subordinates do the talking, China will not listen. Because China will listen only to the leader of the nation,” ani Carpio sa ANC, Huwebes.

“And if the President is silent, then China will continue,” dagdag niya.

Ginawa ni Carpio ang pahayag matapos mapaulat na may daan-daang barko ng China uli na nagkalat sa exclusive economic zone ng ‘Pinas sa gitna ng pandemyang COVID-19 at matapos na silang itaboy nina Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana at Foreign Affairs Secretary Teodoro Locsin Jr.

“China is showing to the world it doesn’t care about international law, it doesn’t care about world opinion and it has President Duterte as its ally,” ayon sa dating hukom.

“The spokesperson of President Duterte said this can be settled among friends. That means Malacañang is downplaying this whole incident, that this can be settled among friends. But this is a very important national issue, our sovereign rights are involved, our sovereignty is involved,” banggit niya pa.
