Wala pa umanong dapat ikabahala ang Pilipinas pagdating sa subvariant ng Delta na nadiskubre sa UK, ayon sa World Health Organization (WHO).

Ayon kay Rabindra Abeyasinghe, WHO representative to the Philippines, wala pang naitalang kaso ng nasabing subvariant sa Pilipinas.

Bukod dito ay patuloy rin daw silang nakatutok sa ibang mga bansa na maaaring maabot ng pagkalat ng subvariant na pinangalanang AY.4.2.

“We are looking very closely at this. Right now this is not classified as a variant of interest or variant of concern. The WHO continues to monitor the spread of this particular variant that has been detected,” wika ni Abeyasinghe.

“We want to understand that they process a particular risk more than the Delta variant in terms of transmissibility, in terms of the disease it causes, and its response to vaccines,” dugtong pa nito.

Samantala, sinabi naman ni Andrew Pollard ng Oxford Vaccine Group na kahit nariyan pa ang AY.4.2 ay hindi na rin nito mababago ang kalagayan ng mundo pagdating sa COVID.

“With more evidence, we will share that with the Philippines and other countries. I also want to add that the Philippines is also monitoring variants, and this particular variant has not yet been confirmed in the Philippines,” wika pa ni Abeyasinghe. (mjd)
