Kinondena ni Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) Secretary Teodoro Locsin Jr. ang pagharang at pagbomba ng water cannon ng tatlong Chinese vessel sa dalawang supply boat ng Pilipinas sa karagatang sakop pa ng teritoryo ng bansa.

Sa kanyang pahayag, sinabi ni Locsin na pinaalam na niya ang galit ng Pilipinas sa awtoridad ng China.

“I have conveyed in the strongest terms to H.E. Huang Xilian, Ambassador of China and to the Ministry of Foreing Affairs in Beijing our outrage, condemnation and protest of the incident,” saad ni Locsin sa kanyang statement ngayong Huwebes. “I reminded China that a public vessel is covered by the Philippines – United States Mutual Defense Treaty.”

Inilahad pa ng kalihim na ang Ayungin Shoal ay malinaw na sakop pa ng teritoryo ng Pilipinas kaya’t walang karapatan ang mga Chinese vessel na harangin ang mga bangka ng Pilipino sa naturang lugar.

“The acts of the Chinese Coast Guard vessels are illegal. China has no law enforcement rights in and around these areas. They must take heed ang back off,” dugtong pa ni Locsin.

“The Philippines will continue to provide supplies to our troops in Ayungin Shoal (Second Thomas Shoal). We do not ask permission to do what we need to do in our territory,” pagtatapos ng kalihim. (mjd)
