Binasura ng Commission on Elections (Comelec) second division ang hiling ng mga nagpetisyon laban kay presidential aspirant Ferdinand ‘Bongbong’ Marcos Jr. na ‘wag bigyan ng extension ang dating senador para sagutin ang reklamong diskwalipikasyon laban sa kanya.
“Under this authority, the Commission is similarly enabled to cope with all situations without concerning itself about procedural niceties that do not square with the need to do justice, in any case without further loss of time, provided that the right of the parties to a full day in court is not substantially impaired,” saad sa desisyon ng Comelec.
“In view of the foregoing, the Commission (Second Division) hereby resolves to deny the motion for reconsideration filed by petitioners,” dugtong pa nito.
Matatandaang noong Nobyembre 18 ay binigyan ng Comelec second division ng limang araw ang kampo ni Marcos para sagutin ang reklamong diskwalipikasyon laban sa kanya.
Ngunit muling nagreklamo ang mga nagpetisyon para sabihing hindi na dapat bigyan ng extension sa pagbibigay ng kanyang sagot si Marcos, alinsunod sa Section 4(6) ng Rule 23 ng Comelec Rules of Procedure, na inamyendahan ng Comelec Resolution No. 9523. (mjd)
