Nanawagan si Anakalusugan party-list Rep. Mike Defensor sa Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) na i-exempt sa number coding ang sasakyang ginagamit ng mga health workers.

Ayon kay Defensor, mahalaga na makarating sa mga ospital at iba pang health facility ang mga health worker lalo at nananatili pa rin ang banta ng COVID-19 pandemic.

“They should be exempted from this vehicle volume reduction scheme to allow them to do their job especially in case of emergencies,” sabi ni Defensor. “They do critical, life-and-death-related work in hospitals, which obviously cannot wait for three hours to be done.”

Muling ipinatupad ng MMDA ang number coding noong Disyembre 1 mula alas-5 ng hapon hanggang 8 ng gabi.

“Those working in government hospitals usually end their duty at 5 p.m. They should be allowed to travel at once, if they have vehicles, and be with their loved ones, instead of passing time in their workplaces or in malls where they would be exposed to the highly infections new coronavirus and its variants,” dagdag pa ng kongresista.

Kumpiyansa si Defensor na pakikinggan ni MMDA Chairman Benhur Abalos ang kanyang panawagan.

Iminungkahi rin ni Defensor na huwag ng pakuhanin ng exemption sa tanggapan ng MMDA ang mga health workers at payagan na ang gamitin na lamang ng mga ito ay ang kanilang Professional Regulation Commission license o hospital-health facility ID kapag pinara ng traffic enforcer. (Billy Begas)
