Higit kumulang 280 personnel ng Police Regional Office sa Bicol (PRO-5) ay sumailalim sa biglaan o “random drug testing” nitong Biyernes sa PRO-5 Grandstand sa Camp Brig. Gen. Simeon Ola. 

Sa isang pahayag nitong Linggo ni PRO-5 spokesperson Lt. Col. Maria Luisa Calubaquib, isinagawa ang random drug testing sa mga “commissioned, non-commissioned and non-uniformed personnel.” 

“This initiative is in consonance with the organization’s pursuit to cleanse and weed out personnel who are engaged in the use of illegal drugs,” saad ni Calubaquib. 

Ang biglaang drug testing ay base sa Article 3 Sec. 36 Paragraph (e) ng Republic Act (RA) 9165 o ng Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. 

Ang proseso nito ay pinangunahan umano ng Regional Intelligence Division at Philippine National Police (PNP)-Crime Laboratory.

“PRO-5 under the leadership of our regional director Brig. Gen. Rudolph B. Dimas is one with the entire organization in attaining its objective to create a drug-free community, that clearing the community from the influence of drugs begins within the corners of the PNP,” dagdag pa ni Calubaquib.
