Ang ipinakita umanong interest sa Maharlika Investment Fund (MIF) ng mga kalahok sa World Economic Forum (WEF) ay dapat maging hudyat ng agarang pagpasa ng panukalang ito.

Ito ang sinabi ni Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez matapos na ipresinta ni Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos Jr. ang MIF sa Philippines Country Strategy Dialogue sa Davos, Switzerland.

“The swift passage of House Bill No. 6608, creating the Maharlika Investment Fund, enabled the President and the Philippine delegation to take advantage of the enormous opportunity to showcase the positive developments in our country and creative strategies to gain growth momentum,” sabi ni Romualdez.

Nagpakita umano ng malaking interes ang mga lumahok sa WEF sa panukalang MIF.

Ang panukala ay naaprubahan ng Kamara de Representantes bago matapos ang 2022. Naipadala na ito sa Senado at inaasahan na kanilang agarang tatalakayin. Ang agarang pagpasa ng panukala ay sinertipikahan ng Malacañang.

“We could not have accomplished this challenging task (approving the measure) without the cooperation and sacrifice of our members who exerted tremendous effort and diligence so we can conduct exhaustive debates and introduce necessary refinements to the Maharlika Investment Fund bill before our Christmas break,” dagdag pa ni Romualdez.

Ikinonsidera ng Kamara sa inaprubahang bersyon ng panukala ang mga pahayag ng mga kritiko. Inalis nito ang Government Service Insurance System at Social Security System bilang fund contributor at naglagay ng mga probisyon upang mas maging transparent ang paggamit ng pondo. (Billy Begas)
