Isa pang panukala ang inihain sa Kamara de Representantes para sa pagbabalik ng June to March school calendar.

Inihain ng Makabayan bloc ang House Bill 8550 ngayong Lunes para maamyendahan ang School Calendar law (Republic Act 7797).

Sa ilalim ng panukala, ang School Year 2024-2025 ay magsisimula sa unang Lunes ng Hunyo.

“In consideration of the June school opening of School Year 2024-2025, the School Year 2023-2024 shall end not later than the fourth week of May 2024,” sabi sa panukala.

Upang hindi malugi ang mga guro sa pampublikong paaralan na mababawasan ang araw ng bakasyon, inaatasan ng panukala ang Department of Education (DepEd) na bigyan ng angkop na dami ng service credit ang mga ito.

Sa kasagsagan ng COVID-19 pandemic ay iniurong ang klase hanggang sa maging Agosto ito.

“The April to May school break long observed in the Philippines was lost with an August school opening, and the results include temperature sweltering, blood pressure rising, and children and teachers fainting. The intolerable heat in cramped classrooms have led to a worrisome drop in attendance and, for those who persevered in staying in class, had a hard time concentrating and understanding the lessons,” sabi ng mga miyembro ng Makabayan bloc sa explanatory note ng panukala.
