Kasama ang online stores o mobile applications sa mga dapat magbigay ng diskwento sa mga senior citizen at Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) na bibili ng kanilang mga produkto.

Ito ang inihayag ng Presidential Communications Office alinsunod sa polisiyang inilabas ni Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) Commissioner Romeo Lumagui Jr.

Ang direktiba ay nakapaloob sa Revenue Regulations no. 8-2023 kung saan idineklarang mandatory ang pagbibigay ng benepisyo sa mga senior citizen at PWDs sa pamamagitan ng diskwento.

Hindi rin kailangan ang lagda ng isang SC/PWD kapag bumili sa online o sa pamamagitan ng mobile applications pero kailangan pa ring ibigay ang SC/PWD card number ng mga ito.

“Online platforms should recognize the mandatory discounts given to Senior Citizens and Persons with Disabilities. The BIR has issued RR No. 8-2023 to this effect. The signature of the SC/PWD is not needed if the purchase is made through online means. The SC/PWD Identification Card number should still be provided”, ayon sa regulasyon.

Batay sa nakasaad sa Republic Act 10754 o ang Act Expanding the Benefits and privileges of Persons with Disability, bibigyan ng 20% diskuwento ang mga ito sa lahat ng kanilang mga bibilhin at exempted din sa pagbabayad ng value added tax (VAT) sa ilang produkto at serbisyo. (Aileen Taliping)
