Naglalayon umanong paramihin ng panukalang P5.768 trilyon budget para sa 2024 na paramihin ang produksyon ng pagkain at pababain ang gastos sa transportasyon at logistics sa bansa.

Ito ang sinabi ni Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez matapos isumite ng Department of Budget and Management (DBM) ang panukalang budget sa Kamara de Representantes.

“The national budget will provide increased allocations for the Department of Agriculture’s banner programs to boost the production of prime commodities such as rice, corn and high-value crops, and fisheries among others. Higher investments will also be provided for the construction of more fish ports and farm-to-market roads all over the country,” sabi ni Romualdez.

Batay sa dokumento ng DBM, ang gobyerno ay naglaan ng P31.2 bilyon para sa irrigation services, P30.9 bilyon para sa national rice program, P10 bilyon para sa Rice Competitiveness Enhancement Fund at P9 bilyon para sa buffer stock program.

Upang mabawasan umano ang gastos sa transportasyon, nilaanan din ng pondo ang Build Better More Program.

“As such, the bulk of the infrastructure budget will be allocated for physical infrastructure aimed at improving connectivity throughout the country through the construction of accessible road networks and railways. Significant funding support will also be provided for the construction of social infrastructure such as school buildings and health centers,” dagdag pa ni Romualdez.

Ayon sa DBM, may nakalaang P163.7 bilyon sa rail transport program, P148.1 bilyon sa network development program, P17.3 bilyon sa farm-to-market roads at P6.4 bilyon sa land public transportation program.

“The primary expenditure direction will continue to be anchored on the 8-Point Socioeconomic Agenda in the near term and the Philippine Development Plan 2023-2028,” sabi pa ng lider ng Kamara.

Sinabi ni Romualdez na nananatiling pangunahing prayoridad pa rin ng gobyerno ang edukasyon na nakakuha ng 16% ng panukalang budget at dinagdagan din ang pondo para sa mga social protection program gaya ng Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program, pensyon ng mga mahihirap na senior citizens at supplementary feeding program sa mga bata.
