“The inordinate arrogance of the second Marcos administration in failing to celebrate February 25 as a regular public holiday is a continuing distortion of the verities about the evils and repression of the Marcos martial era,” sabi ni Lagman sa isang pahayag.

“February 25 commemorates the Filipino people’s success in ousting the dictator Marcos, who had to eventually flee to Hawaii where he was in virtual captivity until his death in Honolulu on 28 September 1989,” dagdag pa nito.

Sa isang pahayag, sinabi ng Office of the President na hindi isinama ang EDSA People Power Revolution dahil natapat ito sa araw ng Linggo sa 2024.

“There is a minimal socio-economic impact in declaring such day as a special non-working holiday since it coincides with the rest day for most workers/laborers,” sabi ng OP.

“The more Marcos Jr. would sweep under the rug of historical perfidy the profligacy and oppression of his father’s dictatorship, the more unreachable reconciliation and justice will be,” dagdag pa ni Lagman. (Billy Begas)
